Truly a free spirit at heart, Ken packed up and made the bold move to Sydney a few years ago, all in the name of love and exploration. With the help of Arthur 6, he dives headfirst into the vibrant Sydney landscape, uncovering hidden nature walks and discovering all Sydney has to offer. Join us as he tells FONZ all about his journey exploring the wanderlust of Sydney from his favourite electric scooter.
I fell in love! I met a beautiful woman who happens to be a French and Italian teacher out here in Australia and decided to pack up my life, sold my photo studio in Minneapolis and came to Sydney where I've been for a few years now.
I discovered FONZ a few years ago on Instagram, when I first arrived in Sydney. I almost bought one but had a lot of travel scheduled so I waited. When the Arthur 6 came out I had to get one. The specs were perfect for the kind of exploring I wanted to do and I really like the styling of the scooter.
So, I have an Arthur 6 Performance model in Racer Green, fitted with a burgundy leather saddle and trim. I opted to add the Type 2 charger as well and I love it!
“It’s actually my own unique combination.”
I go from Balmain to Bondi. I go to Manly. If it's rush hour it's about an hour drive and I’ll still have plenty of range. Who would have more of a commute than that? Perfect commuter. And for me it's a little explorer.
“My scooter is meeting the need perfectly.”
I mean the public transport in Sydney is fantastic compared to where I’m from, but it doesn’t get you to all the places. You can meander to every nook and cranny.
“It's a cheap way. And it's a fun way. Fun is kind of the keyword for me.”
I don’t lane split when I’m flying down the road, but filtering through congested roads is a way easier and freeing way to get around.
I come from riding motorcycles, I used to ride a Harley Fat Boy which is a beast of a motorcycle. Perfect for highway adventures. However, they’re rather slow and cumbersome, so the Arthur is a way better fit, more agile for exploring Sydney.
It’s Hassle free. You can actually go to a mall and most parking complexes and charge it while you’re inside. Electric is so hassle-free compared to petrol.
I’m going to cheat on this question because I’m still new to Sydney and practically everywhere I go I find it interesting in one way or another. I’ll say I like to drive in a direction and get lost exploring the back streets, and then I map my way back home to Balmain.
Now if we're talking in my lifetime then hands down it’s a solo trip “out west” through Montana and Yellowstone National Park, stopping in to other amazing places along the way. I’m probably not going to do that one on an Arthur but I might on a future FONZ *cough cough*.
